Dear All
I trust that you all had wonderful Christmases & New Years – I certainly enjoyed myself rather too much. However, perhaps this was me ‘stocking’ up before my next challenge.
In early December I decided to abstain from alcohol for January & February (and the 1st of March so that it’s a round number). Whilst I realise that this is self-serving, you are all good friends and so you know it will be a considerable challenge for me! In order to make the most of this opportunity I am hoping that you will support me in my goal by encouraging me with a per-day-on-the-wagon contribution to charity.
Perhaps you will have heard of neuroblastoma, the appalling aggressive childhood cancer, from Samantha Hughes’ blog www.samanthahughes.co.uk which is written by her father on her behalf. I have been following their story for quite a while and feel that her fight and her family’s struggle to maintain hope are an inspiration. Through them I have learnt about other children, some of whom have lost their battle, and the impact that this awful disease has on the lives of the sufferers, their siblings and all who love them.
They are supported both directly and indirectly by Georgie’s Fund, a Neuroblastoma charity that distributes the monies it raises to research into the disease and many children’s cancer wards. I will be donating any money I raise through my mini-sacrifice to Georgie’s Fund. I know that it is straight after the pocket draining festivities but 10 pence a day would come to £6.; 20 pence would be £12; 40 pence would be £24 etc which isn’t so bad, especially if you can all spare something. I am going to need lots of encouragement to last through the next eight weeks.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Georgie's Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks in advance for your generosity, love Alice xxxx
