Having been coerced into taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Relay Race in May by Hazel to help raise funds and awareness for THE LAVENDER TOUCH, I've discovered that I'm crap at running in blistering heat. However, I'm glad to report that our team (Gordon Newlands, Hazel Mackenzie, Kirsty Locket & myself) successfully completed the race, not in record breaking time but we made it despite the blazing sun, stolen water supplies and injuries. We're all very proud of our achievement and a few of us are taking part in further races to continue help raising funds.
My next run: Hawick Half Marathon September 2009. I must be mad!
Your donation will help The Lavender Touch provide complimentary therapies to cancer patients in the Scottish Borders. Although aromatherapy does not provide a cure for cancer it helps those undergoing treatment for cancer by relieving some of the side effects of these treatments and also some of the side effects of the disease itself. Some of the things it can help with are - insomnia, muscle aches and pains, lethargy and nausea amongst others. Being diagnosed with cancer is an extremely anxious period and aromatherapy can reduce some of the feelings of anxiety both during this time and throughout the disease process.
