My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Why Willen Hospice?

The reasons are very simple, in August 2007 my father in law and friend died from pancreatic cancer after approx. 12 months of illness.  The support he received from Willen Hospice and Marie Curie staff was excellent and certainly made his life and that of his family as comfortable and easy at it could have been in those last few months and weeks.

So why Base Camp Everest?

Having completed the Inca Trail in Peru approx. 4 years ago (raising money for Whizz-Kidz) I guess I was simply looking for a fresh challenge (or was it a case of mid life crisis, something to prove to myself and a much needed push to loose weight and get fit again!).  over dinner one evening a few months ago (and after my fair share of beers) Bill announced he was looking to do Everest Base Camp, but Julie, his partner, wasn’t happy about him doing it himself – and that’s it, I found myself signing up.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Willen Hospice will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Sponsorship so far via the old style form has so far raised approx. £1,800 in just a few weeks - please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.
