My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Once I again I shall tread those streets of London for your your dollar for the cardiomyopathy association. There will be pain, oh yes, there will be pain.

Cardiomyopathy, which literally means "heart muscle disease", is the deterioration of the function of the myocardium (i.e., the actual heart muscle) for any reason. People with cardiomyopathy are often at risk of arrhythmia or sudden cardiac death or both.

The Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA) is a registered charity that helps people and their families affected by the heart muscle condition cardiomyopathy. We provide support and easy-to-understand information on the different types of cardiomyopathy.

There is the official version.  On a personal note hypertrophic (obstructive) cardiomyopathy claimed the life of my uncle, pictured left.  My mum's brother tragically passed aged 35 years, giving me a mere 11 years to know him.  This was back in the day when understanding and awareness of the condition were rare.  It has been down to charities such as the CMA to support the families of those affected, and bring the condition to the attention of the nation.  This enables funding, which furthers the undertanding of this condition and it's treatment.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiomyopathy Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thats what those funny questions are for.

Many thanks for your support.
