Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well I've done it!!! It was hard work but immensely rewarding and I have very many memories that will stay with me for ever. I did not get altitude sickness, thank goodness, and I very much enjoyed the walking and climbing part of the trek. Some of the 'facilities' would make a story in themselves. Thank you all for your amazing support.
I have now booked my trek to Nepal. I leave the UK on 31st January 2010 and return 2 weeks later. The actual trek will be for 8 days and will reach a height of 4000 metres. I won't find out if I suffer from altitude sickness until I get up there! On the trek we sleep in simple tea houses and walk anything from 4 hours to 8 hours a day. I am very much looking forward to it, but with slight apprehension as I have never done anything like this before. I am going with a company called Explore, who take small groups, and I am not the eldest (by one year!) so I am hoping that I will be able to keep up. We walk from a place called Lukla up to a Buddhist Monastery at Thyangboche, accompanied by Sherpa Guides.
Thank you very much for supporting me. I am trying to raise £2000 for St. Catherine's Hospice. Don't forget to say if you are a UK taxpayer, because then the Hospice can claim 28p in each £ on top of your donation.
