My story

Welcome to The Almighty Fund!

This fund has been created by the band to raise money for Leukaemia Research, following ex-bass player Floyd London's battle with the cancer.

Floyd was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in September 2004. His type of AML was quite rare (1:70,000) and he was treated with 4 courses of aggressive chemotherapy. Unfortunately a bone marrow biopsy was out of the question as the procedure alone carried a 40% mortality rate.

Floyd's chances of successfully beating the cancer are 50/50 but he still made it to remission after the first course of chemo, and he's still there now!!! We have another 4 years to get through before we can say he made it! Floyd is a tough wee lad and we know he's going to beat this leukaemia.

The Almighty decided to reform for just two shows only, in aid of Leukaemia Research. This was with their classic line-up (Ricky Warwick, Pete Friesen, Floyd London and Stumpy Munroe). These two benefit shows were all about celebrating Floyd and those golden years....and raising lots of money along the way!

The shows took place on 5th January in Glasgow and 6th January in London and were sell-outs! Please check out www.thealmighty.co.uk for details.

The total amount of money raised on this page is made up from the amount raised at the shows, the wristbands sold, t-shirts sold, online donations and door collections at both shows!!!  We will continue to keep the fund open for donations until February.

Leukaemia Research is the only national research charity devoted exclusively to leukaemia (as well as the lymphomas, myeloma, aplastic anaemia, myelodysplasia, the myeloproliferative disorders and the related blood disorders in both children and adults). Their research and the fundraising process is vital in finding a treatment that can successfully cure people diagnosed with the disease. Leukaemia Research are dependent on voluntary fundraising. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Leukaemia Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

'The Almighty - Welcome To Defiance' charity wristbands are on sale at www.lrf.org.uk! So please donate and help us fight this cause! Many thanks for your support.

Love, Ricky, Stumpy, Pete, Floyd & Soph (Floyd's wife) x
