The Brathay 10 Marathons in 10 Days Challenge
What will I be doing - Running the marathon distance of 26.2 miles once a day for 10 days in succession.
When - from Friday 8th May 2009 through to Sunday 17th May, the day of the Brathay Windermere Marathon.
Where - the course is around Windermere, which is the largest lake in England, starting and finishing at Brathay Hall.
Who - I will be joining 14 other mad fools who have also been inspired to take up the challenge in 2009.
How - after many, many months of training, just by taking "one step at a time", supported by a fantastic team of family, friends and Brathay staff.
Why - I wanted a challenge and boy have I got one now!
Having been totally inspired by the achievements of previous 10 in 10 runners and especially Steve Edwards (World Record Holder), I believe I have the determination, commitment, self motivation, mental strength and of course, "Welsh Passion" to take on the challenge. With the new confidence and self-belief that losing a lot of weight brought I couldn't wait to start my journey. If I can complete this challenge I believe I can do anything.
Being in the privileged position of working for Brathay Hall Trust, a truly inspirational organisation, I am fully aware of the difference that we make to the lives of the disadvantaged children and young people who are lucky enough to have a Brathay experience. We help to give them the skills and confidence to make positive choices for their futures.
Is my Challenge worthy of your hard earned money?? I hope so and I am grateful for any donation, however large or small.
The money I raise will be used to benefit a group of local children and young people who live in the Furness Area.
