Give 'untouchable' children like Kuldip a human life.

Amalavajra/Matthew and Yu-Ju will be walking the 95 miles of the West Highland Way over seven days in July: from the outskirts of Glasgow, along Loch Lomond, past Rob Roy’s cave, up into the Highlands and to the foothills of Ben Nevis (Britain's highest mountain). OK it's not the Himalayas, but we'll be walking a strenuous 14 miles a day, with the added ingredients of sleeping under canvas some nights, dodging clouds of midges and braving the Scottish summer weather! Why are we doing this? Watch us explain on YouTube.

Amalavajra/Matthew left investment banking and began working for Karuna exactly ten years ago this month, while Yu-Ju has just successfully completed a two years Masters at Goldsmiths and is now a qualified Dance Movement Therapist. Amalavajra and Yu-Ju would like to celebrate by raising enough money for a child like Kuldip to stay in a Karuna hostel until he has completed his education. At just £15 per month for seven years, this is £1,260 – our target for this walk.

Amalavajra/Matthew met Kuldip in February, during a visit to his hostel in Amaravati, in the baking hot centre of India, and was very touched by this letter from him:

"Myself is Kuldip Gaikad. I am in 6th standard. I came from the village name Shandurjanaghat.

My Parents died when I was baby since then my grandmother is looking after me. She is doing labour work in farm.

This is my first year to be in the hostel. Here I am very happy because here I get shelter, food, and time to play. My best friend is Govinda, we spend much time.

My hobby is to play football, cricket and some time I am missing to my grandmother when I am alone.

Kunal sir [the hostel tutor] is helping me lot to solve my difficulties when I would sick. During the sickness sir is looking after.

I like this hostel."

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Karuna gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. If online giving sounds like too much fuss then you can also send a cheque directly to Karuna at 72 Holloway Road, London N7 8JG.

Thank you!

Love,

Amalavajra/Matthew and Yu-Ju

P.S. Unlike some sponsored treks, we will be paying all of the expenses ourselves, so whatever you give will go directly to Karuna and to changing the lives of children like Kuldip.
