Story
In 2004 twenty young women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer challenged themselves to a 1,000 mile ride on Harley-Davidson motorcycles from San Diego to San Francisco, California. Along the way they formed life long friendships, gained support and strength in dealing with their breast cancer experience, and raised vital funds for and awareness of breast cancer issues.
The first ride, called "Changing Gears", expanded in 2005 to become a Global Relay with 1,000 mile rides in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia, involving 48 young breast cancer survivors from around the world. In 2006, the event name changed to Amazon Heart Thunder and rides were held in the US and Australia as part of Amazon Heart's range of adventures for breast cancer survivors.
2007 will once again see three rides across the globe as Amazon Heart Thunder returns to the UK, California and Australia.
This year's UK ride will run from Aviemore to London from August 26 - September 1 and will benefit Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity as well as Amazon Heart Trust UK.
Visit www.amazonheartthunder.org for more information on this very special event.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
