Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Since February this year my three year old little sister Liberty has been in and out of the John Radcliffe Hospital with severe complications from the common illness of Chickenpox. Due to these complications she has had to stay in hospital for long periods, the longest being a month at a time.

Oxford is quite a distance from our home but the reason we were transferred was because of their amazing intensive care unit, another part of the hospital that we also cannot thank enough. However as this all came as a huge shock we hadn't time to think about booking a hotel nearby which was an extra worry on top of everything else.

However with the kindness of the Ronald McDonald House we were given an en-suite room to stay in which allowed us to shower, eat and sleep whenever was possible and has given a little bit of normality in a very worrying time. Having this room has also meant that someone has been by Liberty's side for quite literally every second that she's been in hospital as two people from our family have been able to stay in the hospital each day and night. There are countless ways that having this space has helped over the past few months but one of the main ones being that our six year old brother has been able to visit my mum in a calm and homely environment where he could have a bedtime story without being in a scary hospital ward.

All of the staff have been so amazing and positive that we feel like we need to give something positive back which is why we're taking part in the Ronald McDonald Whole Hog to raise as much money as we can for more rooms and facilities to be added to the House. Liberty is still in and out of hospital and knowing that there is somewhere close and familiar to stay is always a comfort. The House is in the actual hospital and so close to every ward a child may be in, however with only 18 rooms available it is impossible for all families to be as lucky as we were! So that's why we want to help as much as we can, so that more families can have the relief of knowing that they can be close to their children whilst also trying to look after themselves and be together at the same time!

Under the request of Liberty herself we will be running as a team of four called 'The Little Mermaids' on the 15th of May so please any donations will be so appreciated! And rest assured we will be finishing the 10k course as it is nothing compared to what Liberty has conquered!
