My story

Thank you for visiting the fundraising page of Adrian Morgan.

Having been a groundsman at Lord's for 30 years I have seen many players enter and leave the game.  Not every cricketer's career is blessed with success, indeed few vocations carry so much uncertainty as that of a professional cricketer.

I have seen many careers ended through illness and injury and known cases of distressing personal hardship alleviated by help from the PCA Benevolent Fund.

The Fund has, for many years, been helping players and their dependants in times of hardship, upheaval and readjustment to the world beyond the game.

In order to raise much needed money for the PCA Benevolent Fund I am trekking, in October, to one of the world's most remote places - Everest Base Camp.

The trek will be extremely arduous; not least because of the steep ascents in bitter cold but especially because of the rarefied air and the possibility of acute mountain sickness.  I will be flying the flag for the over 50s and if such a trek could be made easier it would be in the knowledge that I was helping boost the Fund when it was most needed.

Please help me reach my fundraising target by donating through this site.  It is simple, fast and totally secure.  If you are a UK tax-payer 28% will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Alternatively, cheques made payable to The PCA Benevolent Fund Ltd may be sent to:

Latest from the trek:

Made it this far following exhilarating flight into Lukla with a runway not much longer than the square at Lord's. The views and scenery are spectacular.

Walking can be tough up the steep ascents. We are easily breathless. We have had our first sight of Everest - yesterday - which was fantastic but it looks a long way still to go. The cold nights start now as we climb above the clouds.

Our fellow trekkers are a happy bunch and after today we lose contact with the outside world until next week when we get back to Kathmandu - probably in need of a shower.

The views from the campsites are worth waking up for and are really motivating.
The support we received before leaving has helped when the altitude has kicked in and will probably help in the days to come.

We hope to see you with all our digits come Monday 12 November.

Cheers
