About my charity : Cecily's Fund Cecily's Fund
Cecily’s Fund, also known as The Cecily Eastwood Zambian Aids Orphans Appeal, educates Zambian children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable as a result of HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS has hit Zambia harder than almost anywhere else in the world. It takes not only adult lives, many of whom are parents, but also affects the future of the children they leave behind. Already one in five of all Zambian children are orphans, many of whom cannot afford to go to school. Education is vital if they are to have a better future. We support children to attend primary and secondary school by providing practical assistance in the form of uniforms, shoes, books, pens and other equipment, and by paying school and exam fees. A whole year of primary school costs just £25, and it costs £50 to educate a child for a year at secondary school. We also provide opportunities for some of the orphaned and vulnerable children to train as teachers or peer health educators once they have graduated from school at grade 12. By supporting Cecily’s Fund, you are helping to empower Zambian orphaned and vulnerable children, enabling them to escape from the cycle of poverty, vulnerability and disease.
