My story

In a moment of sheer brilliance (or madness, you decide!), the Music Department at Wycombe High School decided to present the staff and friends of WHS with a challenge; to learn a new instrument and pass a Grade One exam in six months. Participants are being sponsored to raise money for the ‘Play Your Part’ campaign. We at WHS are looking to raise £1.5 million in order to build a new Music block and upgrade our Performing Arts facilities in other parts of the school, work that is desperately needed. The 'Play Your Part' campaign calls on everybody in our school community to use their many talents and skills in order to raise these funds.

As well as organising this event, I am teaching Mr Abbas the piano and Miss Penzer, Mr Church and Mrs Cromie the violin, and learning the harp! This is an exciting project. We in the Music Dept are delighted to have 60 members of staff taking up the challenge and hope to raise a significant amount of money for the 'Play Your Part' campaign.

Support our ‘Play Your Part’ campaign to develop a new Music Centre for the school and wider community. Sponsor teachers, parents and students who are running marathons and participating in the Grade One-a-thon. We can’t meet our target of £1.5 million without your support.
