Our personal message:

Coast To Coast In 3 Days - The Aidis Team Walk Hadrian’s Wall...At Speed!!

A few months ago whilst enjoying a quick pint after work, i casually enquired as to whether anyone was still up for walking Hadrian's Wall. Perhaps i should have just stayed quiet and ordered another pint!! Anyway, a few months down the line and here we are!!

The Aidis Team are raising money to help disadvantaged disabled people use modern computer technology to improve their quality of life, reduce their isolation, enhance their prospects and achieve independence.

To help Aidis achieve these aims, we are raising money by walking from one coast of England to the other, covering the 84 gruelling miles of Hadrian’s Wall in just 3 days starting on Friday 27th July and finishing on Sunday 29th July. This is more than twice as fast as is recommended. We intend to suffer – this isn’t just a pleasant stroll in the countryside!!

Our challenge is to raise £10,000 through this walk. This sort of money makes a massive difference to the help we can give. Please help us to make a real difference to the quality of life and prospects of severely disabled people who can't afford to buy expensive specialist computer equipment themselves.

So how far will this money go?

£223 will pay for the training and lifetime technical support of one disabled person.

£1,000 will make up the lion’s share of providing one person the equipment and training he / she needs.

£3,000 will cover the cost of running two, two-day training courses for teachers of special needs children anywhere in the UK.

£5,000 will contribute towards the cost of holding and maintaining a loan library of equipment.

£10,000 will contribute to forever changing the lives of 10 disabled people in the UK.

Working directly with Aidis's clients, i get to see firsthand the kind of difference this equipment can make to many peoples' lives. Things that many people take for granted such as being able to communicate verbally, going out to the shops and socialising with friends etc are the kind of things that Aidis can help disabled people achieve with computers and the internet. However, like any charity, we can only continue to do our work through generous donations.

My personal target is £1,000. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Aidis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!!

If you have any problems donating through the website, the Justgiving helpdesk is available on 0845 021 2110 (local rate) Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm to help with any problems.

Please check out the information on our website and all our other fundraising pages too to see how we are all doing (although you don't have to donate to them all!!):
