On 25th May 2007 my mum was diagnosed with multiple cancers and moved to a large open plan hospital ward with neon lights where she was expected to spend the last days of her life. It was not a pleasant prospect for either of us.
A few phone calls and she was able to move to the Sue Ryder hospice near Henley. The transformation was instant and she immediately became the person I knew once again, if only for a few short weeks. The staff were amazing as is the care they provide - nothing was too much trouble. They made the most hellish weeks bearable. They were there when we needed them.
Your donation will ensure they are there when someone else needs them.
On 25th May 2008 I will be running the Plymouth Half Marathon at the start of a month of fundraising for Sue Ryder Care as a small way of saying Thank you.
I intend to complete the distance of a marathon between 25th May and the day she passed away, 26th June.
Due to race schedules 36km of the 42 km distance will happen in 3 days: Plymouth Half 25th May, London 10k 26th May, Burnham 5k 27th May. I will complete the distance on 25th June at the Miadenhead 5k.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sue Ryder Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
