Having successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) during September 2009, I have decided to challenge myself further by undertaking the Mount Kinabula Challenge during 22nd - 29th January 2010 organised by British Military Fitness.
I feel that regular fitness training with British Military Fitness since March 2009 will equip me well for this considerable challenge involving a 5 day race incorporating a series of daily physical and mental challenges including abseiling, trekking, kayaking, white water rafting as well as the very tough mountain ascent.
This time round I would like to use this challenge to also provide me with the opportunity to raise money for the following two charities:
National Deaf Children's Society (Click on this link to donate money to NDCS)
The Cardiomyopathy Association
Reason(s) for choosing the above charities:
I am profoundly deaf myself and I would like to acknowledge on behalf of all deaf children and their parents the tremendous back up and support provided by the NDCS to help young people cope better in the hearing world.
Cardiomyopathy is an inherited condition affecting young and old alike and financial support is constantly needed to fund medical research and development.
I do realise that all charities are affected by the present economic recession, however, it would be very much appreciated if you could consider contributing even in some small financial way to the above worthwhile charities.
My progress will be updated on this page.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
