On September 3rd I'll (stupidly) be attempting to complete the Vitruvian Half Ironman Triathlon at Rutland Water, Leicestershire. For those who don't know quite what this involves it is a 1.9km open-water swim, an 85km bike ride and a 21km run.
I'm guessing it's going to hurt quite a lot, and be by far the biggest challenge I'll have ever put myself through but it's for a great cause so worth every bit of cramp, aching muscles and exhaustion!
As well as my challenge, on 4th and 10th September my dad (Phil) is, once again stupidly, attempting 1/6th of an Ironman Triathlon over 2 events (NW & Tatton). For those who don't know quite what this involves it is, in total, a 0.6km pool/open-water swim, a 30km bike ride and a 5km run.
Following on from the great fundraising work done by Matt Longbottom (Jess, my girlfriend's brother) for the MS trust over the past couple of years we're aiming to raise as much as possible for that same charity. Matt was diagnosed with MS in 2008 so it's a cause that's close to our hearts. Every penny and pound will be gratefully received and very much appreciated, so thank you!
