Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

The DFSG helps families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition mainly affecting boys. The condition results in decreasing mobility and muscle strength with limited life expectancy (usually to mid-20s). We provide a helpline, support, and organise social events.

Story

Hello Everyone

As you may or may not be aware I am running in the 2008 London Marathon. Please read what I have to say and then dig deep and part with your hard earned cash!

I was asked if I’d be interested in running back in January and being one who likes a challenge decided to accept. I am running for the Duchenne Family Support Group which works to ease the suffering for those with a severe muscle wasting condition that will ultimately cut short the lives of sufferers.

Fortunately, I am lucky enough to not be personally affected by the condition. However a friend of mine works in a special needs school attended by sufferers which is how the offer of running for this charity came about.
Since accepting the offer, I have been training (fairly!) hard and recently ran in the Hastings Half Marathon. The full marathon is on the 13th April and I shall be running with thousands of other people through the streets of London.

Now enough of the talk; please show your support by coming to London on the day and join the cheering crowds. Failing that please donate NOW by giving as much as you can afford to this extremely good cause!

Thanks for your support

Andy
