Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We completed the walk on June 7th :)   Eight weeks and a day of an amazing adventure. Many thanks to everyone who treated us so well along the way. The whole story would be too much to write here  sso, i think a book is needed.

I'll simply let the bit I wrote before leaving tell you the plan and tell you my first stunned thought on reaching John o'Groats.........

'Crikey, I could do with a cuppa!!!'.......

It took about 3 cuppas for it all to sink in, then i went for a pint!!  :))

On 12th April 2010 myself and fern, my abundantly energetic fox terrier, are starting a walk from lands end to john o'groats. we'll be camping along the way so i'll be pulling a little cart with all the kit. the journey should take about a month and a half if all goes to plan........hmm, i'll keep you posted on that. You can track our progress at the facebook group site,  http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=108938332468226&ref=ts

For those worried about a fox terrier being able to walk nearly 30 miles a day for 45 days, she'll be ok. I'm taking a sling for her to lie in if she's tired, so i can carry her. Having said that, after long training walks, it's fern that sprints around the garden like she's been nowhere, while i have to sit down for 15 minutes.

Any donations will be gratefully received. The money will be going to the Tiger Awareness charity and, through them to a registered Indian charity called The Planet Era Foundation. Both these charities work with the local people in and around tiger reserves, providing education to children and adults for the benefit of tigers. As the population of tigers is decreasing dramatically and desperately (probably 1500 now) charities and the tiger reserves themselves are trying to increase the natural habitat of the wild tiger. To do this it is essential to give training to the local people about how to live in harmony with the tigers. This includes giving skills to, for example farmers and craft workers and educating forest rangers and, of course, the children who's generation is the next to look after these incredible animals and their habitat.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks for any donations. The money will be spent wisely and will make a massive difference to the lives of both the tigers and the people who live around them.

Please tell your friends about this site, especially if they know me (or fern). Thanks for all the support.
