Story
I read an article in the Times Online (http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/the_way_we_live/article4508373.ece)
about older people having fun using Nintendo Wii games, and staying active and engaged in the process. This made me think that more older people should have access to such games. Hence I'm asking if you would be kind enough to sponsor me to run in the Windsor Half Marathon (13.1 miles of utter bliss) which takes place on Sunday 27th September. My goal is to raise enough to buy my local Age Concern Resource Centre a Nintendo Wii console and the necessary accessories.
The Henderson Court Resource Centre is one of three run by Age Concern Camden. These centres offer a variety of activities for the older citizens of the Borough of Camden including computing, shopping trips, dancing and discussion groups.
For those not familiar with the Wii, it's a games console that allows players to physically mimic some of the movements that you would expect to use in a real sport or game. Just to be clear, the kind of video games we're talking about here are tennis and golf, and not Grand Theft Auto. If I'm fortunate enough to exceed the target, any extra will go towards Wii's for other Resource Centres.
13.1 miles will be the longest I've ever run and is quite a challenge for me. As you can see from the photo though, the training is going quite well!
many thanks,
Andy
