My story

Update 4th November: I did it!

What an amazing day. I''d had a heavy cold (not Swine Flu!) so was pleased just to feel well enough to start. My clever watch tells me I burned 3700 calories and climbed up over 8600 feet - those bridges were hard - then down again! I had amazing support from Tans, Karen, Wendy, Ian and Nick, as well as thousands of strangers!

Several people in the UK were able to track me online, and my finishing time was 4hrs 15mins and 42 seconds. I finished 20,480th out of 45,000!! Have added some pics - just click on the links opposite.

Very many thanks to all those who've supported me with sponsorship and encouragement. Exceeding my fundraising target is amazing. Donations big and small will make a difference to patient care, but special thanks go to Guy Rowley of Clearwater PLC, and Val Tilbury.

Everyone was so supportive when I ran the London Marathon last year, it seems like a good idea to try to beat the £4k I raised. The National Autistic Society don't go to New York so I've chosen Breast Cancer Care. They provide support and produce excellent patient information that I use in my work at Bedgrove Surgery (www.westongrove.com) and in the CCHU at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (www.cchf.org.uk) . Their pink vest should make me easy to spot for the team coming with me: Tans, Karen, Wendy, Nick and Ian.

Many thanks to Guy Rowley of (everyone's favourite water treatment company) Clearwater (http://www.clearwater.eu.com/) for his generous corporate donation. Their logo is on one of the pics opposite and will appear on my vest.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breast Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So many thanks for reading this, please sponsor me now!
