My story

I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all that have sponsored me - I feel like I have won the marathon never mind completing it! It gives me tremendous pleasure and feel very humble that so many of you have dug in deep and supported something so close to my heart!

The people at FHLTA and my DAD are immensley proud and they have a meeting this month to discuss where so spend the monies which is fantastic, at least we can see the money making a real difference.

Thanks again for a great effort. And just for the record I made it in 4 hours 42. I'm off to throw away my trainers and get some sympathy from Poonam!

My story:

In February 1996 my Dad underwent a double-lung transplant at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. Without this operation my Dad would not have survived and it has given him a second chance in life. He had spent 9 months in hospital before the operation and was in need of constant medical attention. The Doctors had said that he had 6 months to live.  This was extremely hard on my family, especially my Mum who showed resilient courage and strength throughout.

Nearly 12 years on, my Dad's internal organs are working well. My family has the deepest gratitude towards everyone connected with Freeman as well as to the donor's family. In order to give something back I have managed to secure a place in the Flora London  Marathon on 13 April 2008.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Anything you can give will help not only Freeman Hospital but also to help motivate me to train during the bleak cold weather and complete the marathon!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support and I hope to see you at the finishing line!
