My story

Please join us for the first UK event to raise funds for ARCH - the Alastair Ramsay Charitable Trust - on Saturday 4 April from 7.30pm to midnight at the London Rowing Club in Putney. There will be Brazilian food and a samba band to entertain. The tickets are £35 and include food and a cocktail on arrival. After that there will be a pay bar.

Funds raised at the event will go directly to ARCH's first project, Recontar, a local project in south Brazil working hands-on with poor families that have chronically sick children in hospital. Your money will help educate and support the family to care for their sick child, repair their homes and train the parents so they can find employment and bring income to their families. This is a Brazilian-created method that is proven to reduce the re-hospitalisation of sick children and allow the family to build a better life. Alastair Ramsay helped pioneer this model and Recontar is being set up by his wife, Bebhinn.

A few practical details about buying tickets:
- as this is an event, tickets are NOT gift aidable (and any donations above £35 should be made separately with gift aid and if you are kindly donating but not coming your donation is of course gift aidable).
- to buy a ticket, click on the 'sponsor me now' button and put in £35 and Just Giving will ask a series of questions including 'is this for an event/ raffle?'.
- Click yes, and it will automatically not reclaim the tax on this.
- If you are happy to, it would help us if you could tick the box that allows us to see your contact details and we can then send you the tickets to the mailing address you've provided. If not, we will have your tickets on the door

We really look forward to seeing you there.

Many thanks from the UK ARCH Fundraising committee:
Jo Carr, James Ellington, Stephen Folwell, Karen Mahony, Suzie Pepperell, Geoff Peters, Kate Smaje and Laura Stevenson

Charity Registration No. 1122452

ARCH was set up in memory of Alastair Ramsay to further his passion for international development and child wellbeing.
ARCH's first project was Recontar, an organization set up in South Brazil by Alastair´s widow to improve children´s health by addressing the root causes of illness: family poverty and dire living conditions. Recontar employs a best-practice methodology of helping severely disadvantaged families with sick children to improve their living conditions and give their children a better chance at health.

ARCH is now expanding to other projects, including providing bereavement support to children who have lost a parent in Ireland and a project to professionalize a NGO which houses destitute children with severe disabilities in Mauritius.

ARCH is a purely voluntary organization and all funds go directly to projects. Each project is overseen by a member of the ARCH Board, who is either a family member or close friend of Alastair Ramsay.
