My story

Dear Sponsors and Supporters

Well it’s still hard to believe but I actually did it!  I’m still on a real high and proudly wearing my shining medal for all to see. I ran virtually every step of the 26.2 miles and even sprinted up the Mall at the end in 5 hours and 12 minutes and still smiling!!  All those months of training certainly paid off.

It really was the most fantastic experience from the alarm going off at 5.15 am, joining my fellow band of Marathon runners for the journey up to Greenwich, queuing many times for the loo prior to the start, the noise of the crowds lining the whole route, bands playing, people singing, children handing out sweets and kind words of encouragement from my family and many friends lining the route, to finally crossing the finishing line to a rapturous applause.

It was also rather a humbling experience – I ran behind a man supporting “Ban the Land Mine” who was severely disabled, blind runners being lead and guided along, and many other folk who were seriously struggling to complete the grueling challenge.

THANK YOU all so very, very much for your generous support, encouragement and sponsorship.  Knowing that I had the backing of so many people was certainly very uplifting during every step of the way.  In total (so far) I have raised £4,801.20 in aid of Hospice in the Weald which I understand will help them in a huge way in their mission to provide specialist palliative care to patients with life-threatening illnesses, and support and counseling for their families.

On a personal note, it's now exactly one year since Michael had his op and in the last month he's really turned a "corner" and is now virtually back to his normal self.  Let's hope and pray that this continues.

With love and best wishes, Angela x

P.S.  The two lucky winners of my Marathon Raffle were Jamie Barnes of Langton Green who wins a meal for two at the Brands Hatch Place Hotel and Peter Wilson of Filston Farm, Shoreham who wins a meal for two at the Forge House Restaurant in Otford.
