Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
Starting on the 15th June 2009, we (Angela and Andrew) will be traveling overland in a Landrover from London to Cape Town.
Our route takes us from London through Europe into Turkey, Syria and Jordan before crossing the Red Sea by ferry into Egypt. From Egypt we will follow the well traveled East Africa overland route South through Northern Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and finally into South Africa. We hope to arrive in Cape Town in the last week of October 2009.
In addition to traveling through 21 countries and covering over 22,000km of tarred roads and dusty tracks, we want to use this opportunity to raise the profile and some much needed money for SOS Children's Village, a charity who is involved in a number of projects throughout Africa.
SOS Children's Villages is the world's largest orphan and abandoned children's charity. Its global network of sponsors and donors provide a new family and home for more than 70,000 children in 475 unique Children's Villages in 123 countries. Their supporters also help a million children and their families through SOS community outreach programmes. We will visit a number of the villages to meet the families and children on route to Cape Town.
