Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Ataxia UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

On the 30 August a group of friends from Hattersley will become Ghost Hunters for the night to raise money for the Ataxia charity.

30 friends will spend a night in Houldsworth Mill in Reddish, which is reported to have a high level of paranormal activity. Some of those taking part are regular ghost hunters who belong to Ghost Club uk , but for others this will be their first time taking part in this kind of spooky activity.

Ataxia is the principal symptom of a group of, mostly progressive, neurological disorders called the cerebellar ataxias. These disorders affect parts of the nervous system that normally control co-ordination and balance; they can also be a symptom of other conditions like multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy. One of the ghost hunters, Angela Schofield who's husband is living with Ataxia, thought a sponsored ghost hunt would be an unusual way of raising money for the charity.

Joining Angela on the ghost hunt will be local Councillor Jim Fitzpatrick, regeneration worker Lesley Moura and friends including Jean Davison and her daughter Natalie.

Much of the money raised through sponsorship each year goes to the high profile charities. Ataxia is a relatively rare disorder so chances are you will never have been asked to support it before, so if you get the chance please do give generously. If you would like to know more about Ataxia go to the website at www.ataxia.org.uk
