My story

Hello

On Sunday, 1 July, I'm running (of sorts) the London 10k Run to help to raise money for the One Parent Families/Gingerbread Children First campaign.

Some background - around 3 million children in the UK are being brought up primarily by one parent; that’s one in four families. They are twice as likely as other families to be living in poverty and this can have an impact on their health, their educational attainment and their chances in life generally.

To help these children, One Parent Families|Gingerbread provides information and support for their parents through a national help and advice line plus publications and an internet service.

There are specialist helplines for parents bringing up a disabled child on their own (this is 25% more likely than for a couple) and for those facing violent behaviour or the threat of it.

One Parent Families also provides training and support to help parents back into work.

You can find out more about the Children First campaign on their website -
http://www.oneparentfamilies.org.uk/

The runs starts in Piccadilly, takes in various landmarks around London, and finishes near Downing St. This is the first time I have attempted a proper run & am hoping to finish within the allotted time & without catastrophe or being distracted by items in shop windows. If you would like to help raise some cash for this good cause, please sponsor me now.

The photo isn't of me, but I thought some cute puppies looked better and always make people feel good about giving.

Many thanks in anticipation!
Angie
