Story
In June 2013 I will be embarking on a physical and emotional challenge to climb the largest solitary volcano in East Africa, Mount Elgon in Uganda.
I was inspired by my recent trip with Fields of Life and so have decided to climb Mount Elgon to raise £5,000. The money will fund a 'well' to bring clean water to 2,000 people in a rural village in Uganda
So please dig deep and give whatever you can.
I'll be huffing and puffing my way to the top of this extinct volcano which reaches 14,000 ft high above the clouds. There will be 15 of us supporting each other. It's my fourth trek over 8 years, and each one gets harder as I'm getting older!!
Why bother supporting me? Well I guess just knowing that many children die before their 5th birthday because of water bourne diseases is pretty rubbish. How lucky our own children have been.
Building a 'well' I hope will be just the beginning and I'd like the folk in the remote parts of Uganda to feel they are not forgotton. First comes water, then education which brings hope for a brighter future. Fields of Life is the Charity that leads the way and I've experienced first hand the absolutely wonderful work they are doing with children in the most remote and inhospitable parts of the country. With so little, they do so much. I was deeply moved and just have to do something.
And this is my way to make a difference.
Thank you so much for helping me do something practical and together we can save some lives.
With Love and massive thanks for your generosity
