Running through the Alps...
On 4 September, my team-mate Jaco and I, plus Alistair and his team-mate Gavin, will be in on the start-line of the Transalpine Run 2010. This is a multi-stage race over 8 days in the . We begin in , travel through and finish in . We will be covering 305 km and climbing 13,500m.
I’ll be running to raise money for The LATA Foundation – http://www.latafoundation.org/. They do fantastic work supporting environmental and social projects throughout . They've already helped children in Colombia and Argentina, planted trees in Peru and supported women in Guatemala to start their own small businesses. At the moment they are appealing for donations for reconstruction projects following the earthquake and tsunami in and floods in , as well as continuing to raise money for their existing projects in , , and .
I have to admit the race is a little daunting – the climbing more than the distance! – but it’s going to be an incredible challenge in a stunning part of the world, and when my legs are yelling at me to stop it will definitely help to know I’m running for the Foundation!
Latin America is a destination I love and care about and any money raised will make a huge difference. Any donation, however small, will be so greatly appreciated.
