CHANNEL SWIM UPDATE

We've all had our hair and nails done and WE HAVE A WINDOW THIS WEEK OF WEDNESDAY OR FRIDAY/SATURDAY.  WISH US LUCK!!!

We are a group of women who belong to London's Serpentine Swim Club and we are attempting a channel crossing from Dover to Cap Gris Nez as a 6 member relay team.  We range in age form 25- 65.  Each one of us is pushing a personal boundary in both mental and physical ability by doing the training and the swim.  The training consists of 1-2 hour swims in London's Serpentine in Hyde Park (where the water is usually calm) or in Dover Harbour (where the water is rarely calm!).
Roddy Jones, Director of Afghan Mother and Child Rescue, is also a member of the Serpentine Swim Club.
AMCR is dear to each of the team member's hearts.  We know that it provides critical care for mothers and children in Afghanistan, and we know that all of the money donated goes directly to the projects without committees or middle men.

THE SWIM IS GETTING CLOSE AND WE ARE ALL EXCITED!!!  THE CHALLENGE OF THE TIDES AND WEATHER AND THE TIME OF DAY WE WILL HAVE TO TAKE OFF MAKE IT ALL THE MORE ADRENALIN-PRODUCING.

The relay will take place sometime between 6 and 13 September according to weather and tides.  Our pilot is Alison Streeter, MBE, the England Channel Queen having completed 43 solo channel crossings herself including 2 and 3 way crossings. We will be in GOOD HANDS!

LAND'S END the American outdoor clothing company has very generously donated the swimsuits you see on the left and canvas bags for carrying our gear on board!!!
