Sexual abuse remains a much neglected and highly stigmatized issue in Nepali society. The silence that prevails surrounding sexual abuse frequently discourages survivors from disclosing their experiences and seeking support from their families and communities. Due to the insufficient support structure, survivors and their families often avoid reporting crimes, thereby perpetuating the child's vulnerability to further abuse. Even when survivors come forward, they are often met with an invasive, unsympathetic legal system.
Antardristi Nepal has two counseling centres, one in Kathmandu , one in Pokhara. These centres offer survivors:
x counseling
x legal support
x temporary accommodation in a safe environment
x skill development training
x medical check-up
x parents counseling
x education
x sexual abuse awareness program
x interaction programs with other children in Nepal
x excursions for survivors
