My story

Hello, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On April 13th 2008, instead of heading to Portman Road to see the derby between Norwich City and Ipswich Town I've decided to run 26.2 miles instead - I'll be missing my first derby match in ten years and I'm going to be running the London Marathon!

Win a signed Norwich City or Ipswich Town shirt!
Norwich City and Ipswich Town have kindly arranged for me to get hold of a signed shirt from each club (photo here) which I'm going to effectively raffle off through my sponsorship. For every £2.00 sponsored you'll be eligible for one ticket in the raffle (e.g. £20.00 is ten entries worth). If you put something like Norwich, City, NCFC, Ipswich, Town, ITFC etc. into the comments box I'll know which draw you'll be wanting to be entered into and which shirt you'd like to win!

Where your sponsorship money is going...
I've opted to run for Sue Ryder Care. For those of you that don't know about them they provide hospices / care centres and offer a range of services for patients and residents with complex illnesses and conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke recovery, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease and brain injury.

Just around the corner from my childhood home in Peterborough is Thorpe Hall, which is a fine example of the facilities Sue Ryder Care offer. Their vision is 'care that liberates lives', which means helping people get the best from their life whatever the diagnosis.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It's also the easiest way to sponsor my efforts. Sue Ryder Care will receive your money faster and an extra 28% in tax will be added to your sponsorship if you tick the 'gift aid' box.

So, please donate and join me in supporting Sue Ryder Care and an excellent cause.

'Warm-up' events
10.02.08 Chessington Valentine's 10km / 6.2 miles (Time 1:01:02)
09.03.08 Silverstone Half-Marathon, 13.1 miles (Time 2:18:11)
30.03.08 Kingston Breakfast Run, 16 miles (Time 3:05:57)

Bit of a blip in the final 'warm-up' event with a knee niggle after eleven miles, but took the final five miles easy and saw myself through in a reasonable time without making it any worse.

So that's it for the training, it's all gone pretty quickly and it's now time to taper.

Thanks for all the support so far, it really is appreciated.

...I'll see you for a pint at the finish!

Ant.
