The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals (ORH) Charitable Funds is the umbrella charity for over 700 funds supporting projects across the ORH NHS Trust that enhance services and facilities for patients and staff. These range from support for particular wards, at the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Horton Hospitals, to larger fundraising campaigns to support major developments such as the new Oxford Cancer Centre, the Oxford Children's Hospital, the Geratology Appeal and the Oxford Heart Centre expansion. As one of the foremost teaching trusts in the UK, the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals enjoy a national and international reputation in fields such as cancer and cranio-facial surgery. Please give generously - your support enables us to provide the best possible healthcare in the best possible setting, to a standard far higher than the NHS alone would be able to afford.

My story

Andrew Baker's Oxford Radcliffe Children's Hospital fundraising Appeal

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I pledged to raise £20,000 for the Oxford Children's Hospital at the John Radcliffe. After a successful football fun tournament in 2009, I've now accomplished this... but want to carry on raising lots of money for this very worthy cause close to my heart.

It's my way of saying 'thank you' back to the doctors and nurses at the Hospital who for 6 years looked after me with excellent care following major brain surgery in 2001 (I had to have a bony lump removed from my skull that was pressing against my brain at the age of 12). Following my discharge in 2006 as a young patient, I'm now back again as from August 2009 receiving Adult treatment from Neurological experts for investigative symptoms in balance and head symptoms.

Thankfully though, following tests in late 2009, no tumour has recurred, but am receiving Neurological-physiotherapy currently and follow-up from Neuro experts. I run 'Play2Give', my own annual event every summer at Oxford City FC, a 6-a-side charity football fun tournament with friends.

Through a range of organising many events and activities and inspiring a drive at my old schools since 2003, and now Play2Give, I've achieved altogether over £22,600 for the CHOX Charity, and also support many other local children's charities. CHOX is a fantastic facility treating 65,000 brave young ill patients every year, if anyone's the inspiration to give some money, it's them for their courage - your money will make such a difference.

The money you donate towards my efforts will fund towards granting new specialist equipment and further enhancing its state of the art facilities - CHOX is a really worthy cause. And I would be delighted if you would help the kids by supporting my efforts.
