The 4 of us are travelling to darkest Lapland on the last weekend of November with members of CMS to compete in the Arctic Challenge, an event run by Kids Company.
The Challenge involves sled-dog racing, ice fishing and a gruelling 30km cross country ski race all in temperatures of below -20C and in the pitch black arctic winter!
Kids Company is a charity that provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people.
Many of the 13,500 children reached by Kids Company’s services have experienced severe and multiple trauma. Often these are ‘lone children’ living in chronic deprivation, with little or no support from the adults in their family. Some are young carers struggling to look after younger siblings or parents who are unable to care for them, and many have been forced into drug running, gangs, or prostitution as the only means of survival in their depleted communities.
Kids Company is the CMS charity of the year and we are helping CMS to attempt to raise a massive £100,000! The money raised from the Artic Challenge will be put towards providing Christmas lunch and Christmas presents to 2500 children who would not otherwise have a Christmas at all.
Please dig deep and sponsor us on our mission to the arctic abyss!
