Thanks for visiting our page, we are running the London marathon this year for the Royal Hospital for Neuro Disability based on West Hill, Putney. They are the leading hospital in the country to specialise in this type of care and are 100% dependant on charitable donations as they receive no funding from either the government or the NHS.

An example of the great work that they do is the story of Charlotte Hunter, who wrote:

"My husband Peter was on his way to work when he suddenly collapsed and was left unconscious; and nobody could tell her why.

He was a ghost for 3 years, unable to move or speak but still able to breathe independently. Peter was trapped inside a paralysed body. Doctors told me that he was brain dead and had no hope for a future but I knew that the man that I had been married to for 20 years still existed.

The breakthrough came when he was referred to the Royal Hospital and they discovered that he had been mis-diagnosed. For years he had been able to see, hear and think but nobody knew. He was a prisoner in his own body. He wasn't brain dead after all. He had been desperately trying to communicate with me for years.

Thanks to the support of RHN's dedicated team of staff, we started to notice tiny movements in his left eye. With the use of groundbreaking equipment, some unique therapy and round the clock care, my husband was eventually able to communicate using a specially adapted computer that translated the tiny eye movements into words. He directed his first 3 words at me..."I love you" he said.

Words cannot explain the happiness I felt after so many years of silence, the hospital gave me back my husband."

What more can we say other than please help in any way you can and every donation no matter how small is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Rob and Stuart Arnott
