My story

 

Jambo! (hello!)

Team Attitude at Altitude consists of 4 slightly crazy women! Annemarie, Audra, Debs and Helen. All of us are 40 something, none of us are particularly fit, none of us have ever been up a mountain and we're all wondering where we plug our hair straighteners in on Kili!

Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa and the tallest free standing mountain in the world, so, with the training that will be required and the fund-raising target we have set ourselves we have a mountain to climb in many different ways. We will be taking part in a 9 day trek to the summit, on the Rongai Route, in September 2010 - it's the same route as the Comic Relief team took last February. We may not be Cheryl Cole lookey likeys but we will be there with our lip gloss on and wearing our sparkly pink bras outside our winter coats!

All 4 of us have been touched by cancer in some way, especially Deb who currently only has one boob(but very much hopes that she will have two before the trek!).  Following Deb's successful treatment last year the team decided to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer who's aim is a future free of the fear of breast cancer. There are currently 46,000 women being diagnosed and 12,000 dying each year, so let's see what we can do together to get rid of this dreadful disease.

We felt it was important that all the money raised went directly to the charity and we have therefore decided to cover the costs of the trip ourselves, so your donation will go much further.
