Story

Newsflash!!

Good Job Well Done.

Annemarie and Audra made the summit, all 5895 mtrs of it!! After a tortuous 5 days the girls trekked through the night with very little oxygen and feeling really rough to reach the roof of Africa and summit Kilimanjaro. Debs and Helen had earlier been removed from the mountain following health issues and while gutted that they couldn't be at the summit feel extremely proud of everyone's efforts.

Thank you everyone for the donations helping to make the fantastic total above. Breakthrough Breast Cancer WILL use it wisely and all us girls know that it was worth every minute of training, every arduous step up the mountain and all the time and effort put into the fundraising to help ensure a future free of breast cancer for all our daughters.

Thank you

xxxx

Jambo! (hello!)

Team Attitude at Altitude consists of 4 slightly crazy women! Annemarie, Audra, Debs and Helen. All of us are 40 something, none of us are particularly fit, none of us have ever been up a mountain and we're all wondering where we plug our hair straighteners in on Kili!

All 4 of us have been touched by cancer in some way, especially Deb who has recently had reconstructive surgery after her right tit was so rudely chopped off in 2008!  Following Deb's successful treatment the team decided to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer. There are currently 46,000 women being diagnosed and 12,000 dying each year, so let's see what we can do together to get rid of this dreadful disease.

Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa and the tallest free standing mountain in the world, so, with the training that will be required and the fund-raising target we have set ourselves we have a mountain to climb in many different ways. We will be taking part in a 9 day trek to the summit, on the Rongai Route, in September 2010 - We may not be Cheryl Cole lookey likeys but we will be there with our lip gloss on and wearing our sparkly pink bras outside our winter coats!

We would really appreciate any donation you can make towards our mountainous fund-raising total and any company donating over £100 will get a sponsor link to their website on our fund-raising website www.twin-peaks.co.uk

We felt it was important that all the money raised went directly to the charity and we have therefore decided to cover the costs of the trip ourselves, so your donation will go much further.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Asante (thank you)

Annemarie, Audra, Debs and Helen
