Story

On 9th May 2014 we will be cycling non-stop the 300 miles from London to Maastricht in 30 hours...

So some idiot (Charlie Smith) came up with this idea and we all said ‘Hell Yea!’… possibly a little too quickly.  But it is for a great charity so we are doing it!

The Team otherwise known as The Slightly Less Than Magnificent Seven comprises of: Charlie Smith (our aged MD!) Lucy Crowther, Kristin Liebmann, Emma Gore, Cahal O’Reilly (representing Team Sherpa) Issabelle Stepski and Katie Walker.  It is an impressive line-up of would-be Olympians… in tiddlywinks.

Our charity is The Kivuli Trust which builds hostels and classrooms on the premises of existing mainstream schools in Kenya, specifically for children with physical and mental disabilities.  We have chosen Kivuli as we wanted the funds we raise to go directly to the kids that need the help.

Kivuli Trust (‘kivuli’ meaning shelter in Kiswahili) builds hostels and classrooms on the premises of existing schools in East Africa specifically for children with physical and mental disabilities. Our projects allow for small class sizes where these children will be given the attention that they deserve. The hostels negate the need for long daily journeys to and from the schools and provides the children with a more stable learning environment. Most importantly our projects allow for integration with other school children which provides invaluable disability awareness and understanding at a young age that can then filter back into the wider community.
