As you are aware we are working with the Rotary International to Provide 2 Landrover Ambulances to the people of Bamako in Mali. Currently we are targetting a population area of 11 villages who each live 70 miles away from any medical aid or transportation.

To highlight the lack of transportation and medical aid these communities suffer Im doing what they have to do. Im walking 75 miles in 100 degree heat carrying a 66lb firemans training dummy ( donated by ruthlee.co.uk ) in total i will walk 3278 miles including training walks.  Please spread the word and sponsor my sore feet and back :)

These ambulances will be handed to doctor/nurse teams who will use them as field clinics in the villages and as emergency transportation to the 49,000 people almost 50% of whom are children. Using the ambulances to not only provide emergency transport but to ensure that essential pre and post natal care is available and making delivery of malaria treatments and other vaccines accessible reducing the infant mortality rate below 20% and increasing the average age beyond 16 yrs old.

By helping a community to help themselves we ensure their dignity and with decent pre and post natal care we hope to extend the life expectancy beyond 38 yrs old.
