Banglatown to Bangladesh: Rebuilding Lives for the Victims of Cyclone Sidr
In November 2008, Ruhul, a member of our team, and two IF volunteers (Shahed Yunnus and Enamul Islam) successfully completed the Banglatown to Bangladesh charity road run. They drove in a £1,000, 14-year old Toyota Hilux jeep from London’s Brick Lane, across Europe and Asia arriving in Bangladesh in 26 days.
Their aim was to draw attention to the plight of those affected by Cyclone Sidr and raise £10,000 for Muslim Aid to help rebuild the lives of 4 million people affected by the destruction.
The money would be used to provide cyclone resistant homes for some of the displaced families affected by the cyclone as well as supporting a range of projects such as developing water filtration plants, drilling deep wells to combat contaminated water, providing livestock and helping to build educational facilities.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure way of contributing to this initiative. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: IF gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
