3 peaks, 24 hours, 27.5 miles: some call this madness, I call it the Three Peaks Challenge.
I will be scaling Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon, the highest peaks in the UK, and all within just 24 hours. That’s 9800 feet up and down and a 450 mile round trip. And because I’m a nice guy, I’m doing it all for charidee.
So why sponsor me? Well if you don’t, you are bad people. But in case you need a more tangible, less conscience-linked excuse to part with your hard-earned (I use the term loosely for some of you) cash, ‘Building for the Fortune Wokingham’ supports autistic children and their carers, including my future cousin-in-law and his mum. There are 4 of us doing the walking each with our own reasons and charities, so if you don’t sponsor me then sponsor them – or don’t be so tight and sponsor us all at the following addresses:
http://www.justgiving.com/gillanddave http://www.justgiving.com/glyncruickshank We have theoretically recruited 2 drivers to transport us to the bottom of each of these mountains, but they are refusing to drive anywhere at the moment without significant amounts of money in the coffers, so dig deep and give generously if you would be so kind.
And if you are still not convinced, here’s my parting consider-what-I-am-actually-doing-and-then-please-sponsor-me shot: 27.5 miles is more than a marathon, and how hard are marathons? Hard. 27.5 miles is the same as walking up Canary Wharf 13 times and how hard is it to walk up Canary Wharf 13 times? Hard (also potentially illegal). Still not got it? 27.5 miles, 3 mountains, 24 hours…………………need I say more?!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Building for the future Wokingham will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
