My story

Myself (Basil Hollington) and friends James Skates, Lynda Makepeace and Jennifer Hall have decided to ride the length of Wales for Kidney Wales Foundation to invest in kidney patient care and well-being

In addition to the 4 core participants, we are expecting other friends, family and colleagues to join us as we travel through Wales.  Any one who fancies either biking along with us for part of the journey or joining us for the walks up Snowdon or Pen y fan is more than welcome (call Basil Hollington on 07785 222122 if you wish to discuss for detailed arrangements nearer the time). We aim to travel at a moderate pace suited to our ability, loading and level of fitness, and expect to spend between 5 and 6 hours in the saddle each day. The terrain and riding conditions will vary tremendously and some parts are very tough with the ride from Tregaron across the Cambrians particularly up and down and remote. Obviously weather conditions during the week cannot be predicted months in advance, so preparations have been made and we can but hope for the best.  We aim to climb Snowdon in the afternoon of the first day (Wednesday 7 May), and Pen y fan in the morning of the last day (Sunday 11 May

In the picture are my son Mark who is coming on the whole ride and my daughter Alexandra is is coming along for part of the ride, in addition to my work colleagues Lynda, James and Jenny. Jenny's sister is also coming with us all the way, making 6 in total core participants.
