Staff at Bay Vets have comitted themselves to the Yorkshire Three-Peaks Challenge on Saturday 17th July 2010 in aid of the Help for Heroes appeal - the event is now over but the fund raising isnt!!
The 25 mile circular challenge walk started in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and visited the three highest peaks in Yorkshire -Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m). This long walk was very demanding. The total climb was some 5,200 feet, and the footpaths went from being very wet and boggy in some places to rugged and rocky in others. All the training put in to complete the three peaks challenge was definately needed but was worth it in the end!!!!!
Help for Heroes supports members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. They provide practical direct support to those servicemen and women wounded in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our initial target was to raise £2000 for Help for Heroes but we have been overwhelmed by everybodys support and think that we can continue in our fundraising and reach a new target of £3000. We will be holding a Garden party at our Lancaster surgery on 29th August where we will be hoping to raise more money for this brilliant cause!!!
Thank you for your all continuing support,
The Bay Vets Team.
