Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!

The Bayer Sky Dive team comprises of members of the Animal Health division. Donna Cable, Assistant Product Manager for Tracer, Vicky Palmer, Marketing Assistant and Joy Howell, Veterinary Nurse and Customer Relations Co-ordinator.

When Vicky and Donna first suggested undertaking a sky dive for charity, Joy soon suggested Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS), as she has worked with them in the past and is heading out to Uganda with them in July with two veterinary surgeons and a school teacher to repeat last years very successful trip to support the communities of Bwindi and Karangara in South West Uganda, home of almost half of the estimated 750 last remaining mountain gorillas in the world!

Vicky and Donna immediately agreed, as they already knew of the great work of WVS but of course Joy made the suggestion, so yes you guessed it.... the poor old lady has agreed to join them! Although terrified of the idea, Joy is happy to throw herself out of an aeroplane to help such a great charity and along with the work she has been doing for several years out in Uganda, she is delighted that Luke Gamble has agreed that a percentage of the money raised will be set aside for their work with Conservation Through Public Health and the schools in Buhoma and Karangara in Uganda.

Joy would like to dedicate her dive to Charlie Garratt BVMS MRCVS a much loved and respected Ayrshire Veterinary Surgeon who sadly died in February this year.

Charlie's endeavours were not just confined to the West Coast of Scotland, he was a driving force in supporting Gladys Kalema, Veterinary Surgeon and Director of CTPH in Uganda, and designed the ecocabin which is now a laboratory and field clinic for mountain gorillas. He was also instrumental in supporting Joy to open a poultry unit at the Karangara School.
