Mike and Becky have had a passion for working in Africa for many years.
We have both been on various short term mission trips and believe now is the time to go for a longer period.

In March 2009 we both went to IcFEM mission with the charity Wheels for the World. IcFEM is a Kenyan charity run by Kenyan nationals with a UK charity affiliate based in Salisbury. Its motto is ‘holy living and hard work’, and aims to provide holistic support to the communities of western Kenya. IcFEM provides substantial support in key areas including health, education, sports projects, housing, farming. clean water and agriculture.

Becky will be working with local volunteers to improve basic health care, to provide teaching at a local level and to medical staff at the health center. The aim is to set up and run a series of teaching sessions and provide written materials. She will also be treating children and adults at the health centre.

Mike will be using his project management skills and regeneration experience to aid the IcFEM management team, focusing on the development of sustainable housing and sports & recreation work.

We aim to stay for at least 1 year, with potential to extend this time to complete projects and be used in the situations to which God directs us. We shall not paid for this work and must raise approximately £12,500.

We are currently awaiting visa confirmation and exam dates for Becky to be formally registered as a Physiotherapist in Kenya. This could take up to 6 months.

We have a provisional plan to fly out April/May 2010

The money given through this page will go to IcFEM Mission, allowing them to pay our major costs such as flights, visa, insurance etc. We are therefore aiming to raise approximately £4,000 of the targeted total of £12,500 through this page. Any money we can raise above £12,500 will go towards the purchase of a 4-wheel drive vehicle that IcFEM really need to continue their work in rural communties, for which we need to raise a further £8k - £10k. We shall use it while we are in Kenya to reach rural villages that are most in need of IcFEM's work, and hope to leave it with the charity when we return to the UK. If you would like more information about our budget please feel send us an email and we shall email you the most up-to-date budget.
