My story

 

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Crazy as it may seems to many, next February I will be setting off to try to conquer the dizzy heights of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro!

Although I can think of plenty of reasons to not do this, for example:

1) I'm scared of heights, 

2) I drink too much,

3) I'm probably really not fit enough,

3) I'm scared of creepy crawlies, (there's a rainforest there you know!)

4) Not to mention the fact I don't even walk my dogs often enough as it is, let alone walk for a minimum of 5 hours a day.... Uphill!!

I can also think of many good reasons as to why I should do this:

1) to overcome said fear of heights,

2 ) less alcohol available up there, (and lets face it... too heavy to carry it with me!)

3) Great dog walking practice

4) To raise money for a fab cause, The Big Issue Foundation, 

The Big Issue set up in Kenya in Jan 2007 and is sold by vendors recruited from youth groups in city slums. These are people who are jobless and are looking for an opportunity to earn an income. No matter what country the Big Issue is based in, it works on the same principles. The Big Issue offers hope and the means to move away from begging, crime and ultimately street life. It helps vendors move their lives forward by gaining the skills and confidence to get into work. It helps to create employment and alleviate poverty.

This trek will take place over 10 days, from the 19th - 28th February 2010, so I guess I have a lot of time to practice. It also means I have some time to make some serious cash for such a worthy cause....Please, Any donation you make, as little as or as large as you can afford, will help go towards an extremely worthy cause, and will be much appreciated. I promise to provide hilarious photographic evidence on my return, and slide shows will of course be available for those that are really interested... LOL!
