Story
WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME (or even at a friend’s house!).
Lying on a bed of nails, I will have concrete slabs smashed, one at a time, on my stomach, with a sledgehammer.
When: Saturday 20 October, from 10.00 a.m.
Where: Clock Corner, Town Centre, Doncaster
Why: to celebrate International Stammering Awareness Day; to raise awareness about stammering; and to raise funds for the British Stammering Association (BSA).
As Chair of Doncaster Stammering Association, and as a person who stammers, I couldn’t say ‘N-N-No’ to this challenge! The BSA has helped thousands of people like me, and I would like to help them to continue the amazing work that they do. For every £100 donated, one slab will be smashed. You can help by sponsoring a slab (£100) or part of a slab (e.g. £10, £20 etc). If you would like to make a smaller donation, you could sponsor one or more razor-sharp, rusty, 6” nails (1 nail=£2).
It would be great if you could come and support me on the 20 October. Also, check out ‘The Art of Communication’, a groundbreaking exhibition about stammering, which will be launched in Doncaster on International Stammering Awareness Day (22 October):
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. You can even TEXT your donation (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10).
