Ben Garrett - London Marathon 2008
On 19th April 2001 our world ended.
My wife Siân had a brain tumour and it was huge. Not the little inoffensive lump you hear about people living with or having removed, but really huge. Bigger than a golf ball.
We knew our life would never be the same again.
But Siân survived.
She thrived.
And we have Evie and Charlie to prove it.
Our saviour was an extraordinarily talented man called Conor Mallucci.
Our family owe him everything.
For five years now I have been trying to say thank you and it is only this year I have been lucky enough to have the chance.
I am running the London marathon 2008 to raise money for Mr Mallucci's charity - Alder Hey Imagine appeal - a charity that he does loads for already and that is aiming to raise money to help over 200,000 children with life or death neurological problems.
I would love to make it a really significant thank you and ask that you give what you can.
Not for me.
Not for Siân.
And not for our kids.
But for the '000's of children that a man like Conor Mallucci can help, given the right facility.
Please give generously and help us to say thanks.
