WHAT IN THE HELL IS BETHANY UP TO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Going on an adventure of a lifetime and I need your support.
On December 22nd, Andy and I are sailing around the Canary Islands aboard the Lord Nelson tall ship. Ok, you say, sounds nice. Sitting back, relaxing, enjoying the scenary, sipping on a cocktail with a little umbrella and a piece of exotic fruit. Ya, right!! This tall ship is a part of the Jubilee Sailing Trust www.jst.org.uk . This trust enables people of all abilities to crew the sailing of the ship from hoisting the sails, to cooking and scrubbing the 'poop' deck. Everyone works, everyone is equal. So, much for the cocktails with fruit!! Now, why am I doing this you ask? Well, you may or may not have experienced the psychological impact of a health issue that limits your independence and in turn your confidence. I am aware, through physical limitations, of the fact that I have become afraid of life and the world around me. I question myself, 'can I do this?' and I am finding myself always asking myself 'What if?..' And, damn it, I hate it. I have always been a person to take life head on. I was never afraid of adventure, tryng new things and experiencing life to the full. And this sailing adventure, I hope, will help me find that old ' balls to the wall', Bethany. The person who was not afraid of the world. The person who seized life.
This charity gives people the chance to push themselves and reach their potential and most importantly, build their confidence. And, because of this opportunity they provide those of us who have limitations, I want to say 'thank you' and raise £500 ($1000) for the charity. This charity is heavily subsidized and each voyage is subsidized by 35%. They even have funds wherebyif a person can not afford to go, they will assist. This is a wonderful charity, who 'change lives' and I am hoping it will do just that for me. You are not sponsoring me to go, which I know many charities require. I am raising money to give to the charity separate from my participation. And, I am going up into the crows nest!! 150 feet in the air.. Carpe diem... Can you help me say thank you? Lots of love and thanks
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Jubilee Sailing Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
