The 3 charities I'm helping, this one is for a condition that affects me personally. I am one of the 5 million people in Britain who have asthma.

How I remember the stigma of having it during my teenage years when sport was so painful. On canoeing holidays with the school, the teachers used to give me half an hour start before the other children were allowed to canoe after me down the River Wye. Did it help? Of course not! All it meant was that I'd be paddling like mad, trying to stay ahead and the other children would know that I was different. I suppose I still am. Who else would cycle to every RSPB and WWT reserve?
